If you are looking for a great local winery with some fun attractions and a cozy tasting room, look no further than JaM Cellars. Located at 1460 1st St, Napa, CA 94559, JaM Cellars wine and music studio is one of the hippest places to be for wine tasting in Napa today. While their wine is nationally famous and sold in retail outlets across the country, it’s well worth your time and effort to stop by their tasting gallery when you find yourself in Napa. Let’s take a look at all that the JaM Cellars wine and music gallery has to offer.
The JaM Cellars brand began in 2008 during the economic crisis. Many of Napa’s winemakers and wineries were hit hard by the downturn. John Anthony, the founder of JaM Cellars, was a long-time vineyard operator and wine producer in Napa, as were his parents. However, after the economy went into a slump, demand for his “John Anthony” line of wines tanked. While trying to figure out how to sell the wine he made that year, he found that people were more interested in cheaper wines that weren’t from the Napa region. After some strategic planning and hard work, he found the perfect process and flavor for mass-produced wines. The name JaM comes from “John and Michele”, Michele being his wife and business partner.
The brand opened up their tasting lounge in downtown Napa in 2016. The lounge serves as both a tasting room for their brand, but also as a late-night lounge that remains open for business long after all of the tasting rooms and wine lounges have closed in town.
In addition to their own brand of wines, JaM Cellars also offers food that pairs well with their wines, prepared by a restaurant next door to their tasting lounge. They also serve wine from the Smith Devereaux brand of wine.
When you visit, you can expect to have a relaxing time. Live music is frequently playing in the background, while you are served in an aesthetically pleasing room that merges a sense of class with the California rock and roll style. The décor of the lounge features a wall of Rolling Stones album covers and autographed guitars. The flooring is a set of beautiful, matching carpets that help give the lounge some ambiance. They also tend to display a disco ball just for the fun of it. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love disco balls.
They are open for you to come visit all week long. Their hours are 10 am to 10 pm Sunday through Wednesday, and 10 am to midnight Thursday through Saturday. Always be sure to check their social media feeds to see when live music will be playing, or what events they might be holding so that you can schedule your visit around that. Next time you find yourself in the Napa area, or are just in the mood for some wine and aesthetics, stop by their Napa, CA wine lounge and sample some of the finest wines California has to offer.
